The Smart Orion Skyquest Xt10s Intelliscope
The Orion Skyquest XT10 comes with a free intelliscope as part of the system. This is a device developed by the Orion developers as a guide in setting circles which are helpful in locating objects. This system combines a large database, a user interface and sensors to create a push to system. This makes the movements in a bid to locate objects much faster, there is no noise from motors and the battery power consumed is much less. It’s main advantage is that it’s capable of tracking an object. The intelliscope system is made up of several parts: the azimuth and altitude encoders, the computer controller and the associated cabling and advancement from digital circle setting. It provides a digital read out of position, with information about celestial objects in the database. It features an electronic position indicator (Encoder) which is affixed to each of both axes of the telescope base (carriage). The azimuth (left-right) motion encoder is provided with each intelliscope base when you buy the telescope. To utilize the intelliscope fully, one needs to purchase the optional intelliscope computer controller. Install it and you are ready to go.
